TDOE names Six Blount County Schools as ‘Reward Schools’ for 2024-2025
BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn.— The Tennessee Department of Education recently named six Blount County Schools as part of the 459 ‘Reward Schools’ for the 2024-2025 academic year. The announcements come after a review process by TDOE and are complimented by a list state-wide designations that can be found on the TDOE website. The Blount County Schools named as reward schools for the 2024-2025 academic year are as follows:
Fairview Elementary
Friendsville Elementary
Heritage High School
Porter Elementary
Samuel Everett School of Innovation
Walland Elementary
According to the state’s website, schools and districts are eligible for recognitions based on their overall performance and multiple successful indicators. The schools recognized demonstrated high levels of performance and/or improvement in performance by meeting set objectives from the previous school year.
“These schools have worked very hard to achieve this status,” said BCS Director of Schools Justin Ridge. “Becoming a reward school is a goal for all our BCS institutions and to see this group improve and thrive highlights the hard work of their faculty, staff and students.”
Tennessee saw a 22 percent increase in awarded schools from 2023-2024 and can credit the surge to schools committed to growth and excellence.
“Earning this award for the third straight year is a testament to our students and especially our staff,” said Heritage High School Principal Jed West. “It takes a collective approach within our school community and student body to set a standard and achieve excellence consistently. We’re proud to be among the BCS awardees recognized by the state.”
